Joe H. Ward, 87, of Cutler, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Maryâs Health Care in Lafayette following an extended illness. He was born November 8, 1929 in Carroll County to Marion and Mary (Enoch) Ward.
Joe graduated from Rossville High School in 1947 and was a United States Air Force and National Guard Veteran, having served during the Korean War. Joe was a lifelong area farmer and was active in his community. He was a member of both VFW Post 9383 and American Legion Post 75 in Delphi.
In 1952, Joe married the former Ruth Ann Gangwer who preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Joan Boone Hatter in 1996, she preceded him in death in 2008. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Ward and one sister, Agnes James.
Surviving family includes four children, JoAnn (Glenn Blackwell) Roe of Rossville, Mark (Debbie) Ward of Rossville, Sherman (Fran) Ward of Lafayette and Scott (Marsha) Ward of Whitestown; four grandchildren, Abigail Smith-Roe, Audre Mae Ward, Joe Ward and Mary Ward and one great-grandson, Carter Smith-Roe.
Visitation for Joe H. Ward will be held from 4 â 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Genda Funeral Home â Rossville Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery with military honors.
