Joe Lenehan, 73 of Frankfort passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at his home. He was born February 7, 1944 in Frankfort to Robert J. and Mary Jane Bowen Lenehan.
Joe was raised in Colfax and graduated from Clinton Prairie High School in 1962 and was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the United States Army. He became a dispatcher for Frankfort Fire Department and EMS for over 20 years, where many would recognize his memorable voice. He was involved in the bar and restaurant business in the area since 1974, was a past president of the Colfax American Legion and member of the Frankfort VFW. Joe enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley; making several trips to Sturgis with his wife Doris. Joe was a talented artist, both in music and wood working. He always had a great story or joke and was a friend to everyone.
On July 19, 1980, Joe married Doris Carroll; she was truly his support and light through sickness and health, all through their 36 years of marriage. She survives with children Jonas (Christy) Lenehan, Lacci (Aaron) Myers, Libbi (Kevin) Smith, Lorra (Adam) Archibald, Lanna (Brent) Freestone and Lissa (Adam) Neyhart; grandchildren, Andrew, Chris, Dallas, Grace, Owen, Emma, Scotty, Andrew, Caleb, Eli, Joey, Isaac, Chloe, Shelby, Noah, Nevan, Nissa, Isaac, Hannah, Lydia, Cruz and Isabella; eight great-grandchildren, Lillian, Landen, Lyla, Miya, Morgan, Josh, Graham and Tanner; one brother, Ted (Shirley) Lenehan and Joe's previous wife, Suilon Chow.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sujo Lenehan and three sons-in-law, David Stewart, Bryan Osbon and Brant Orange.
Visitation will be held from 1-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The memorial service will beigin at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Whitaker officiating. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or to the Frankfort VFW or American Legion. Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort has been entrusted with the arrangements.
