Joel H. Dilworth

Joel Hershel Dilworth, 70, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.

He was born April 13, 1945, to the late Hershel W. “Bob” and Josephine Lucas Dilworth.  Joel was married many years to Karen Mitchell.

Joel graduated from Clinton Prairie High School in 1963, and later received his associate’s degree from Vincennes University.  In his early years, Joel worked beside his father on the family farm.  He was a custodian at Purdue University before working for the Indiana State Highway Department from where he retired in 2006.  He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Sons of the American Legion.  Joel attended the Antioch Congregational Church and First Christian Church; he enjoyed the chapel services and Bible study at Wesley Manor.

Surviving Joel are several close cousins including the Lucas’, Reagan’s, Dilworth’s, and Sheets’.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Chaplain Barbara Kinsler will officiate.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials in Joel’s name may be made to Wesley Manor Employee Appreciation Fund.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
