John C. Archibald, 66, of Monticello, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014, at Monticello Healthcare.
He was born April 3, 1948, in Logansport, to James and Claribel Delaplane Archibald; his parents preceded him in death. John was formerly married to Jennifer Archibald.
John graduated from Carroll High School in 1966, and then received his bachelor degree in animal science from Purdue University in 1971. John served in the United States Air Force Reserves. In 1995, John, along with Mark Frey, became owner and operator of Singletree Hitching Service, Inc.; together, they started Singletree Transportation in 2005. John was a member of Christ Fellowship Church where he actively served. In his spare time, he enjoyed cruising Lake Freeman on his pontoon, trucking and driving, being in nature, trains, and dining out with family and friends. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and church family.
Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie (Richard) Good and Lindsay (Jason) Calhoun; sister, Vonda (Ron) Downing; brother, Kevin Archibald; five grandchildren, Braxton, Brecken, Brodrick, and Braylin Good, and Aspen Calhoun; nephew, Josh Downing, and aunt and uncle, Jim and Jo Delaplane.
Visitation for John will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Flora First Christian Church with Pastor Todd Randles officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Memorials in Johnâs name may be made to Riley Childrenâs Hospital or Christ Fellowship Church.
