John C. McKoon, 64, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born August 7, 1950, in Kokomo, the son of Cecil and Dortha LaMons McKoon; his mother survives in Kokomo. On July 27, 1985, he married Cheri Kay Clevenger; she survives.
John graduated from Western High School in 1969. He worked as a production manager for Griffith Rubber Mills from 1984 until his retirement on October 15, 2014. Quick witted, John was a man who would âgive the shirt off his backâ and was known for his generosity. He enjoyed playing cards, golf, and chess. John attended Rossville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, John is survived by his sons, Chris (Kelly) McKoon of Kokomo, and Jack McKoon of Rossville; daughters, Jennifer (Sean) Nofzinger of Auburn, and Janet Griggs of Kokomo; one sister, Barbara Schrader of Wisconsin; one brother, Stephen McKoon of Ohio; mother-in-law, Becky Dugan Clevenger of Cookeville, TN; brother-in-law, Chris Clevenger of Cookeville, TN; and nine grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his father, one grandson, his sister, Patricia; and his father-in-law, John Clevenger.
Visitation for John will be held at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Brian White will officiate.
