John Howard Gochenour, 78, of Rossville, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
He was born February 2, 1939, in Tippecanoe County, to the late Morris J. and Hazel Lucille (Landes) Gochenour. On September 30, 1972, he married Sue Carol Jenkins in Michigantown; she survives.
In 1957, John graduated from Rossville High School. He service in the Army National Guard for four years and in the Army Reserves for an additional four years. John worked at Glen R. Pitman for 21 years as assistant parts manager and then worked at Purdue University for 23 years as a parts manager before retiring in 2003. In his retirement, John worked part-time for Lafayette Auto Supply. John was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and several Antique Tractor Clubs, and 50 year member of Dayton Mason Lodge #103; he also served as a 4-H Leader for nine years. John enjoyed the outdoors and helping Calvin at Cottrellâs Christmas lights.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Michael John (Stephanie) Gochenour, of Rossville, Debra Sue (Chris) Sampson, of Brownsburg, Kimberly Ann Lamberson, of Phoenix, AR, and Tamara Jo (Kevin) Cotton, of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to the start of Masonic rites at 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the funeral home with Guy Studebaker officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery. Memorials in Johnâs name may be made to Clinton County Tractor Club to help with their new roof.
