John Robert Dickenson

John Robert Dickenson, 79, of Frankfort, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2020.  He was born in Wise County, VA on July 24, 1940 to Carl and Sallie (Mullins) Dickenson.  He married Marie Downs on August 5, 1967.  She survives. He worked at Exide Battery for over 30 years until his retirement in 1997.

John was a man that enjoyed nature and being outdoors.  His hobbies include mowing the yard, fishing, watching wildlife on his property, especially the turkeys and squirrels.  But his true passion was his family.  He enjoyed family gatherings, and most of all, loved taking care of his wife.

Along with his wife of 52 years, John is survived by children, Mike (Lona) Dickenson of Frankfort, Michelle Dickenson-Anderson of Lehigh Acres, FL, Mark (Ning Tiyabut) Dickenson of Thailand, John (Christine) Dickenson of Fayetteville, TN, Julie (Brad) Moore of Frankfort, and Carl Dickenson of Middlefork; a sister Margaret (Ralph) Butler of Dandridge, TN; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and six sisters.

Public visitation will be held from 11am-1pm, Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  A private family service will begin at 1:30 pm, with live streaming accessible on the funeral home website.  Burial will follow the service at Bunnell Cemetery.  The public is invited to the committal service.
