John âSamâ Howe Sr., 75, of Frankfort, passed on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Witham Memorial Hospital with his family by his side; he had been battling a two month illness.
He was born June 28, 1937, in Frankfort, to the late Shirley and Mary (Hampton) Howe.
Sam married L. Janice Swift on March 26, 1960, and she survives.
He attended Kirklin Schools and received his GED from Clinton Central High School. He served in the US Navy from 1954-1958 on the USS Leyte and later served in the US Navy Reserves from 1958-1962.
Sam worked as a truck driver for Winski Brothers retiring in 2000 after 22 years of service.
He loved his children and grandchildren; he also enjoyed online Texas Holdâem.
Sam and Janice share 6 children; Daniel Howe, Sam (Companion Tracy Donoho) Howe, Caren (Companion Rick Birge) Davis, David (Companion Barb Bien) Howe, Adam Howe, Tomula (Husband Andy) Albaugh and 1 grandson being raised by them, Adam âScooterâ Howe II; and Aidan Howe, the apple of his Grandpaâs eye. They have 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother, Dick Howe, sister, Betty Howe, and brother-in-law, Phil Parker.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Diane and Carolyn.
Visitation for Sam will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 4 pm until 7 pm. Service will held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:30 am with son Daniel Howe officiating. Burial will follow at Kilmore Cemetery.
