Johnny E. Conatser, age 94 years of Taylorsville, Kentucky, formerly of Rossville passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the home of his granddaughter. He was born June 9, 1922 in Liberty, Kentucky to William A. and Purdie J. (Coontz) Conatser.
In 1941, Johnny graduated from Morland High School as Valedictorian of his class. He was a World War II Veteran, having served with the 99th Infantry Division in the United State Army where he received a battlefield commission to Second Lieutenant. He was later awarded two Bronze Stars for his efforts at the Battle of The Bulge. Johnny retired in 1987 from Ross Division of T.R.W. as an inspector after over 41 years of service. He was a member of Kelly Crossing Church of God in Frankfort where he served as treasurer for over 40 years.
On August 25, 1945, Johnny married the former Leona M. Brown, she preceded him in death on August 7, 2009. Johnny was also preceded in death by two sons, John Conatser and Daniel Conatser and four brothers, Edgar, Fred, Sherman and James.
Surviving family includes four grandchildren, Michael Conatser, Dana Perkins, Brent Conatser and Reneé Conatser; six great-grandchildren, Covy Perkins, Cayla Perkins, Dezirae Conatser, Brianna Conatser, Arabella Conatser and Sophia Conatser and one sister, Eva Badders.
The funeral service will be at Noon on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Genda Funeral Home-Rossville Chapel with Pastor Andy Denniston officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Johnny may be made to Kelly Crossing Church of God, Frankfort.
