Joseph Daniel Reedy Jr.

Joseph Daniel “Dan” Reedy Jr., 75, of Flora, passed away on October 27, 2017 at 9:33 PM in his home.

He was born June 26, 1942, in Cincinnati, OH, to Joseph Daniel and Mary Juanita Hutchinson Reedy.  On August 7, 1965, Dan married Rachel Wilkinson who survives.

Dan graduated from Whitewater Township High School in 1960, graduated from Taylor University with a bachelor’s degree in P.E. Science, and then received his master’s degree from Ball State University. He attended Living Faith Church of the Brethren.

Dan taught at Carroll Jr./Sr. High School for 30 years.  He coached many young people during those years in baseball, football, track, basketball, and swimming.  His highlight was being the assistant football coach when Carroll claimed the state title in 1995.

Dan and Rachel enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and numerous countries, often with their family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Dan is survived by his sons, Joseph Daniel “Jay” (Lisa) Reedy III, of Beaufort, SC, and Joshua Reedy, of Seattle, WA; daughters, Jeanna (Todd) Johnson, of Bringhurst, Jaimee (Mark) Ryan, of Dayton, OH, and Jessica (Dan) Lamberson, of Bolingbrook, IL; sister, Mary Jo Reedy, of Delphi; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Dalen, Daniel, Joshua, Sarah, Chloe, Meredith, and Benjamin.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4th at Living Faith Church of the Brethren from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Jeff Tomson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan’s name may be made to Midwives for Haiti or Jamaica Christian Services International (CSI).  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
