Joseph E. Spurgeon

Joseph Edward “Joe” Spurgeon, 72, of Flora, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born August 14, 1941, in Flora, the son of Lawrence and Minnie Birge Spurgeon.  

Joe worked for CESS for 40 years.  He attended Church of Brethren in Flora.  Joe enjoyed NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon, John Deere, Colts football, John Wayne, 70’s and 80’s television, and IU sports.

Surviving are one sister, Betty Richardson of Mitchell; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Roger Daugherty and Mike Hyman.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.

Visitation for Joe will be held at Genda Funeral Home-Reinke Chapel in Flora on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.  Jim McDonald will officiate.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.  Memorials in Joe’s name may be made to Living Faith.  Online condolences may be directed to gendafuneralhome.com.
