Juan C. Barrios

Juan C. Barrios, 83, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.  He was born January 3, 1938, in Atotonilco, Valparaíso, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Antonio C. Barrios and Perfecta Conde Barrios. On February 15, 1960, he married Margarita Vidales Barrios; she precedes in death. 

In 1974, he and Margarita moved to Frankfort.  Juan was a machine operator at Norfolk Southern for 29 years, retiring in December 2003, worked at Wal-Mart for 15 years, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Juan was a hardworking man who loved his job. Spending time with his grandkids, working in his garden and collecting hats were some of his biggest enjoyments. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Juan is survived by his children, Fernando Barrios, Oralia Bazan, Agustin Barrios, Refugio Barrios, Juan J. Barrios, Joselia Barrios-Milton, Kristina Ward and Antonio Wolfe; 30 grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Arnulfo Barrios and Luis J. Barrios; daughters, Alicia Barrios and Maria De Jesús Barrios; brothers and sisters, Catarina Barrios Conde, Concepcion Barrios Conde, María de Los Ángeles Barrios Conde, Ána Maria Barrios Conde, and Martín Barrios Conde.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frankfort, with Fr. Paul Cochran officiating.  Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
