Juanita Hazel McComb
May 26, 1923 - May 27, 2012
Juanita Hazel McComb, 89, DeMotte, formerly of Flora, Delphi, and
Brookston, passed quietly away on May 27, 2012, to be with her
husband. She was born May 26, 1923, in a house outside of
Battleground, to Joseph and Lora Swatts Sheehan.
She was 6 years old when the Great Depression began. During
World War II, she worked in the Alcoa Aluminum plant in Lafayette.
She was married September 7, 1946, in Logansport to Russell
Kenneth McComb of Huntertown. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and
he preceded her in death on February 2, 2009.
In the late 1950s, Juanitaâs family bought the first color TV in the
neighborhood and everyone dropped by to watch TV. She saw many
more changes over the years until her passing, one day after her
89th birthday.
Juanita is survived by two sons, Russell Kenneth (Janet) McComb
Jr., Demotte, and Raymond Jay McComb, Lafayette; one daughter,
Janice Marie (Joe) Smith, Loveland, Colo.; two brothers, Richard
Sheehan, Brookston, and Lewis Sheehan, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister,
Margaret Spear, Brookston; nine grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert
D. McComb; two sisters, Elmina Haff and Barbara Flora; and two
brothers, Andy Sheehan and Otto Sheehan.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Genda Funeral Home, Reinke Chapel,
103 N. Center St., Flora. Burial will take place at Pretty Prairie
Cemetery, near Battleground.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
