The Chicago Cubs gained a much-needed angel in the outfield in Judy Remaly, 72, of Rossville, who passed away on the morning of Sept. 30, 2014, surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
Judith Ann Cohee was born July 30, 1942, to Harold E. Cohee and Esther E. (McCreary) Cohee, who both preceded her in death. After graduating from Rossville High School in 1960, Judy married Gene E. Remaly, her husband of 51 years. Judy was a proud and devoted mother to Carrie (husband, Ed McKinley), Al Remaly, and Lana Remaly. She never missed singing happy birthday to her four grandchildren: Sara (husband, Kyle Gergely), Kristen (husband, Ryan Bitzegaio), Alyssa and Conner. She was a loving great grandmother to Addison & Cole Gergely and Ethan & Will Bitzegaio. All of her immediate family survives and will dearly miss the funny bone of the family.
Judy is also survived by three brothers, Larry (Pat) Cohee, Ronny (Sandie) Cohee, and Donny, also known as Tim, Cohee. She also leaves behind many exceptional friends, including the ever-ornery Card Club and Coffee Club ladies. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Flash.
While Judy's single greatest passion was her family, a close second was sports. She loved college football and the Chicago Cubs above all else â she couldn't resist cheering for the lovable losers. She loved dancing through the aisles at grocery stores, sharing her extensive VHS library, and attending Rossville Hornets' athletic events.
The family would like to thank the nurses and patient techs at Seton Hospital and IU Health Arnett Hospital for the compassionate and loving care of Judy during the final weeks of her life. We hope her memory will keep you laughing for years to come.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 4-8 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel.
