Julia Kay Zurschmiede, 52, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 6:49 p.m. from pneumonia at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born November 2, 1961, in Frankfort, the daughter of John and Evelyn I. Egloff McClain. Julia married Eric Zurschmiede in Fort Worth, TX before saying their vows in Munich, Germany on December 20, 1987.
Julia graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1980 and received a BA in Business Management from Purdue University in 1984. She returned to the Frankfort area in 1995. During her lifetime, Julia was PTO President at Riley Elementary. She also served as a Frankfort Library board member and volunteer. She was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling and lived all across the country, including Seattle, Baltimore, Nashville, Fort Worth, Wichita, and Savannah. Her pride and joy was Edisto, SC, where the family vacationed almost every year and will always be treasured.
Julia is survived by two sons, Graham Rasmus and Adam Spieth, both of Kansas; three daughters, Katherine Amelia of Lafayette, Evelyn Sophia and Josephine Maria, both of Kansas; two sisters, Karen Ilene (Greg) Miller of Frankfort and Suzanne Lynette Taylor of Providence, MA; three brothers, Roger Addison (Sue) McClain of Frankfort, John Kelly (Sara Jane) McClain of Maynardville, TN, and Robert Todd (Tammie) McClain of Katy, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steven Floyd McClain.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 5-8 pm. A memorial service in Juliaâs honor will begin at 11 am on Friday, January 17, 2014 at First Christian Church with Pastors Shan Sheridan and Pam Ditson-McCall officiating.
