June E. Noonan, 91, of Frankfort passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Wesley Manor.
She was born June 11, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Helen (Wildtraut) Strong. June married James E. Noonan on September 13, 1947, and they celebrated 59 years together, prior to his passing.
June was a homemaker and also worked as a sales associate in the catalog department for JC Penney in the 1980s and early 1990s. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she served as a youth leader and played hand bells. She was also a Pink Lady, den mother to the Cub Scouts, and volunteered at the Open Door Clinic. In her free time, she was an avid reader, known to read several books at one time, enjoyed sewing, visiting with friends, and going to the YMCA.
June is survived by her sons, James E. (Tina) Noonan Jr., of Indianapolis, and their son, Andrew; Gary M. (Susan) Noonan, of Carmel, and their daughters, Lauren, Kristen, and Megan; and David (Lesa) Noonan, of Peru, and their daughters, Maggie and Molly; and daughter, Tracy A. (Jeff) Silcox, of Indianapolis, and their children, Zachary and Sophia; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. one hour prior to funeral services which will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in June’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street - #100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
