Junior D. 'Perry' Skiles

Junior D. ‘Perry’ Skiles, 88, of Mulberry, joined his heavenly family on February 26, 2021 following a short stay at Mulberry Health and Retirement and a lengthy illness at home. He was born on June 17, 1932 in Rossville to Perry and Cora (Karn) Skiles. He married Betty J. Landes on May 12, 1962; she survives.

Perry moved to Mulberry as an infant and graduated from Mulberry high School in 1950. After graduating, Perry enlisted in the Army and served two years in Korea. Following his return home, he worked for Duncan Electric Company. Perry retired in 1999 after 37 years from the Mulberry Co-op Telephone Company as a lineman. He belonged to Mulberry United Methodist Church and a lifetime member the American Legion and the Wildcat Conservation Club.

He enjoyed camping with the family and friends and playing lots of golf. He also enjoyed bowling and hanging out with his friends and always lots of fun. He loved watching Purdue sports and cheering them on. He enjoyed all his grandchildren and watching them grow. Perry was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Perry never met a person he didn’t like or know. Even strangers were soon friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Shari (Phil) Krueger, Jeffrey Skiles, Cindy (Geoff) McManama, and nine grandchildren Andrew and Eric Krueger, Emma, Kendalyn, Noah, and Jeremiah Skiles, and Delaney, Luke, Trey McManama.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held at Genda Funeral Home, Mulberry Chapel on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 12 pm to 2 pm. Private live-stream funeral services will follow at 3pm with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions in Perry’s honor may be made to the Mulberry United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Genda Funeral Home, Mulberry Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
