Karen V. Harris

Karen V. Harris, 72, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born May 19, 1942, in Frankfort, the daughter of Elmer and Mildred Lykken Kirkman; her mother survives in Frankfort.  

Karen received her nursing degree from Purdue University and worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her life.  She last worked as a supervisor at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.  Karen previously lived in Cincinnati, OH, and Birmingham, AL, before returning to the Frankfort area in 1996.  She was a member of Frankfort Baptist Temple and the Indiana State Nursing Association.

In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by one brother, Jerry Kirkman; sister-in-law, Sylvia Kirkman; and five nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and brother, Dennis E. Kirkman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 12:00 p.m. to the beginning of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
