Kathryn J. Miller Snyder, 99, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013, in Avon.
Born in Clinton County on March 18, 1914, she was the daughter of Russell M. and Ruth Flora Miller. Kathryn married Gilbert Snyder in Moran on April 12, 1941; he preceded her in death on December 21, 1988.
A life-long Clinton County resident, Kathryn graduated in 1932 from Rossville High School. She received a life license in education from Central Normal College in Danville, IN and completed courses at Butler University. She was a teacher for 29 years, teaching in Owen Township, Jackson Township, and Rossville School Corporation. In 1978, Kathryn retired from teaching. Along with teaching, she was a farm wife and loving mother. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder of the church and taught Sunday School Class to children and adults. Kathryn was a member of the Clinton County Retired Teachers Association and Leisure Book Club. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed ceramic and painting classes.
Kathryn is survived by two sons, Dr. Lynn E. (Dana) Snyder of Brownsburg and Dr. Philip H. (Nancy) Snyder of Avon; six grandchildren, Christa Manahan, Laura Sharbaugh, Allison Snyder, Philip Snyder, Mark Snyder, and Melissa Tannehill; and seven great-grandchildren, Audra Manahan, Campbell Manahan, Margaret Manahan, Patrick Manahan, Micah Sharbaugh, Mackenna Sharbaugh, Jocelyn Sharbaugh.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter-in-law, Judith Emens Snyder.
Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 4-8 pm at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Donna Enerson officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery.
