Kenneth D. âKennyâ Harshbarger, 79, of Flora, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1935, in Clinton County, to Albert and Helen Metzger Harshbarger. On August 8, 1954, he married Ruth A. Lindley; she survives. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage.
Kenny graduated from Cutler High School in 1953. Throughout his life, he worked at Sparkâs and Jordan Appliance Store, Becks Appliances, and Stephenâs IGA before retiring. He also owned and operated Kenâs TV Service. He was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church and attended Flora United Methodist Church. Kenny enjoyed gardening, model trains and planes, and fishing. He had also sang in the McCarty Quartet.
In addition to his wife, Kenny is survived by his children, Pam (Kevin) Shafer, Carolyn (Brian) Harlen, Jane (Pastor John) Rink, John (Lynn) Harshbarger, and Andy (Joyce) Harshbarger; sister, Patsy (Doyal) Robertson; sister-in-law, Paula Harshbarger; 14 grandchildren, Rachel, Robbie, Katie, Mary, Amy, Mark, Laura, Nick, Curtis, Lori, Kimberly, Kayla, Matthew, and Joshua; 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith Harshbarger.
Visitation for Kenny will be held at Flora United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Rink will officiate. Burial will follow in Ball Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora.
