Kimi Lea (Maish) Shirar

Kimi Lea Shirar, 68, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born March 26, 1956, in Lafayette to Gordon (Charlotte) Maish and Sue (Campbell) Kelsey. She married Dennis Shirar January 4, 1975. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2013. 

Kimi was a graduate of Frankfort Senior High School, class of 1974. She worked for Peter Paul Confections, and then Wal-Mart in several departments before making her way to the Vision Center. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge #7. She was baptized with Denny at Seymour Christian Church several years ago. Kimi was a hardworking woman that enjoyed reading, especially Harry Potter novels and was a corvette enthusiast and drove her corvette down to Bowling Green for the 50th Anniversary caravan. She was an animal lover, especially cats, known to rescue animals, nurse them back to health and release them. 

She is survived by her children, Amanda (Brad) Huddleston, Crystal (Justin) Bryant, and Robert (Stacey) Shirar; siblings, Susan Ryan, Cindi Kubicek, Doug Maish, and Karla Schwartz; grandchildren, Celeste, Dunigan, Damian, Nikolas, Lonna, Gage, and Haven; and best friend, Mark (Rizza) Tyler and their daughter, Stephanie.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Charlotte Maish; brother, Daniel McCreery.

Per Kimi’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Kimi’s honor to the Clinton County Humane Society. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
