Laird E. Jacoby, 82, of Forest, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at IU Health North Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born April 11, 1930 in Tipton, to the late Orval W. and Dorothy (Fox) Jacoby. He married Marilyn âSueâ Hollis Sept. 12, 1948. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1999.
Mr. Jacoby was a 1948 graduate of Frankfort High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from1952-1961. He was stationed in Germany. He had previously lived in New Albany. He worked for Indiana Bell and AT&T for 38 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion for 62 years, Moose Lodge of Frankfort and Telephone Pioneers. He roped and tied his first calf at the age of four.
He is survived by three daughters: Sara (Mark) Plaiss of Mundelein, Ill., LouAnn (husband Dave Humphries) Jacoby of Noblesville, and Laura (John) Livingston of Fishers; a brother: Larry of Bloomington; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22 at Genda Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
