Larry Gayle Evans, 74, of Kirklin, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born January 4, 1942, in Lebanon, to Dorsel Kenneth and Madge Yvonne Lanning Evans. On February 17, 1962, he married Charlotte Sedwick; she survives.
Larry attended Kirklin Schools and graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1960. Throughout his early years, Larry farmed in the Kirklin area. He was a transport driver for Shell Oil Co. for over 20 years before retiring in 2001. During his retirement, he transported for Cyclone Grain. Larry was a member of the Clinton County Pork Producers, Clinton Central Booster Club, and Kirklin Township Volunteer Fire Department. He had been active in the Clinton Central FFA where he was awarded Honorary Chapter Farmer. Larry supported his grandchildren and his âother kidsâ in all of their endeavors. He always enjoyed his Florida vacations and watching #24.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his son, Gayle Allan (Vickie) Evans of Thorntown; daughter, Lori Evans of Sheridan; sisters, Judy Hendrickson of Lebanon, and Diana (Bill) Roberts of Kokomo; three grandchildren, Blaine, Brock, and Maddie; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Linda Cleveland; and one brother, Kenny Evans.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 1:00 â 5:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Memorials in Larryâs name may be made to Clinton County Cancer or St. Vincent Hospice.
