Leonard D. Abbott

Leonard D. Abbott, 65, of Frankfort passed away at 11:09 PM on February 23, 2013 at Clinton House Health and Rehabiltation Center.

Leonard was born on March 21, 1947  in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Oscar and Evelyn (Dishman) Abbott. He married Barbara J. Sheets on April 1, 1967, and she survives.

He was employed at Emerson Controls for 13 years, and then he worked for the Frankfort Street Department, retiring in 2010.  Fishing and hunting were passions of Leonard; ""a true outdoorsman.""  He enjoyed family cookouts and four wheeling through the mountains of Kentucky with his brothers.

He is survived by his wife of Frankfort; one daughter, Melissa L. Morrison of Frankfort; two sons, Richard Bryan (wife Christina) of Frankfort and Jason Michael (wife Stephanie) of Brownsburg; 5 grandchildren, Bryan, Heather, Ashley, Camden and Jackson; one great-grandchild, Railyn; two brothers, Bruce and Huey Abbott, both of Kentucky; and one sister, Margie Crabtree of Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Genda Funeral Home Frankfort.  Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the funeral home with Larry Foster officating at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the City of Frankfort for upkeep and maintenance of the City Lagoons.
