Lewis D. Barrick

Lewis D. Barrick, 94, of Pyrmont, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born February 2, 1920, in Cutler, the son of Russell and Cora Heddrick Barrick.  On November 21, 1942, he married Dorothy S. Myers; she survives.

Lewis grew up in the Buck Creek area before moving to rural Pyrmont in 1986.  Lewis served in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in the South Pacific including Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines.  He farmed most of his life in the Buck Creek area.  Lewis belonged to the Pyrmont Church of the Brethren where he held several church offices including Life Time Deacon of the church.  With his wife, Lewis attended North Fork Old German Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Dean (Karen) Barrick of Pyrmont, and Jay Lynn (Debra) Barrick of Buck Creek; two granddaughters, Mandy (Chuck) Murray and Darcy (Shawn) Keegan; two step granddaughters, Stephanie (Kirk) Saylor and Jennifer (Nic) Myers; four great grandchildren, Daymia, Jayden, Elijah, and Adah; and eight step great grandchildren, Breanna, Payten, Griffey, Kelton, Quynten, Lukas, Matthew, and Miresa.

In addition to his parents, Lewis is preceded in death by his brother, Russell Barrick.

Visitation for Lewis will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel.  Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the funeral home with ministers John Hess and Melvin Mohler officiating.  Burial will follow in Middle Fork Old German Baptist Cemetery.  Memorials in Lewis’ name may be made to Milner Healthcare Activity Department or Honor Flight Network.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
