Lillian R. McKowen, 97, of Lafayette, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Creasy Springs Health Campus.
She was born June 18, 1919, in Cincinnati, to William and Grace Erven Hoffmeier. On July 24, 1943, she married Rev. James S. McKowen; he preceded her in death on January 12, 2005.
Lillian attended Finneytown Schools and later Johnson Bible College. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker and a pastorâs wife. Lillian lived her faith through her family. She faithfully attended Brady Lane Church of Christ, but she held a long-time connection to Community Christian Church in Frankfort.
Surviving Lillian are her sons, Paul Edwin (Dorothy) McKowen, of Lafayette, and David Lee (Diana) McKowen, of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Richard (Katie) McKowen, of Alvin, TX, Mark (Lesley) McKowen, of Thorntown, Jennifer (Adam) Gray, of Plainfield, and Julie (Bryan) Brackemyre, of Zionsville; and four great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Andrew, Kenneth, and Isabell.
In addition to her husband, Lillian is preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Hoffmeier; and three sisters, Mary Hoffmeier, Grace Sharpshair, and Myrtle Bell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 3:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Boudouris officiating. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Zionsville, with Pastor Guy Brown officiating.
