Linda K. Martin

Linda K. Martin, 65, of Lafayette, at 1:25 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012, went home to be with the Lord.

Linda was born on October 7, 1947, the daughter of the late Howard and Rena Turner.  Attending Lafayette Jefferson High School, she met her high school sweetheart, John “Wayne” Martin whom she married on December 4, 1965; he preceded her in death on June 30, 2006.

Linda loved the children at Grace United Methodist Church in Lafayette where she worked for over 17 years.  Previously she had worked at Best Western in Lafayette with catering and banquets for many years.  Linda also enjoyed antique shopping and starting a new business with her daughter in Mulberry.  She loved traveling through the Smoky Mountains, gardening, fishing, horseback riding, her dog, Winston, and spending time with family and friends.

A child of God, devoted mother, her wisdom and strength will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Surviving are her daughter, Laura Lee Martin of Mulberry; two sons, Scott Martin and Todd Martin both of Lafayette; two sisters, Vicki (husband, Jerry) Shaw and Deborah Turner Clark; one brother, Tom (wife, Violet) Turner; and three grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, and a very special sister-in-law, Priscilla Reppert.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Mulberry United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. until the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m.  Rev. Andrew Martin will officiate.  Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Linda’s life at 114 East Jackson Street in Mulberry, Indiana, 46058.

Memorials in Linda’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at the IU Arnette Health Medical Team in Lafayette, the Palliative Care Team at IU Arnette Health Hospital in Lafayette, and Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.  The family would also like to thank all of their family and friends for their love and support.
