Linda Kay McIlrath

Linda Kay “Sam” McIlrath, 77, of Rossville passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

She was born June 3, 1938, in Reynolds, to Edward and Dorothy Dehner Spinn.  On November 1, 1959, she married Dewey George McIlrath; he preceded her in death on February 12, 2010.

Linda was valedictorian of Reynolds High School Class of 1956.  She graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1959.  Linda was a registered nurse for 45 years, beginning her career at the Riverview Hospital in Noblesville and Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo in their emergency rooms. She completed the majority of her career at Kokomo Family Care. Linda was a member of the Mother’s Club in Rossville.

Surviving are two sons, Kent McIlrath of Rossville, and Kevin (Donna) McIlrath of Monticello; daughter, Kelly (Mark) Hiatt of Rossville; sister, Joan Armstrong of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Kelsey, Adam, Bethany, Sarah, Elizabeth, Andrew, Matthew, Jenelle, and Brendan; and one great grandchild, Taydn.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Funeral service for Linda will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Alan Weldy.  Memorials in Linda’s name may be made to St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
