Linda Kaye Prater, 59, of Mulberry, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in
St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette.
She was born Nov. 1, 1952 in Garden City, Mich., to Haskell and Mildred (Reed) Shaw. She married Raleigh James Prater Sept. 7, 1968. He survives.
Mrs. Prater worked at the Indiana Veterans Home as a dietary supervisor for 25 years. She attained a GED in 1986 and achieved a dietician license. Linda was a dedicated person to the residents of the home. Her life revolved around her husband, girls and grandkids, filling their worlds with love, laughter and great food.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters: Tammy (Jason) Spurlock of Lafayette, Rhonda (companion Roger Fidler) Landes of Frankfort, Corina McClaine of Lebanon and Melissa (Matt) Bedwell of West Lafayette; 15 grandchildren: Brock, Bradey, Trista, Tara, Christopher, Nathan, Kierra, Jocelyn, Ráleigh, Mattyson, Jacob, Allison, Jordyn, Jeremiah and Jaiden; two sisters: Barbara (Cliff) Byrd and Lesha (David) Austin; and one brother, James (Kathy) Shaw. Preceded in death by Haskell and Mildred (Reed) Shaw.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 21 at Bodine Funeral Home, Mulberry. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fair Haven Cemetery.
