Lois âJeanâ Cooper, 79, 1901 W. Barner St., died at 11:39 a.m. April 7,
2011, in St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Cooper graduated from Cutler High School in 1949. She worked as a
server at Key West Shrimp House and the Eagles Lodge for 18 years.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed events with her
family, including fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. Jean was a person
who saw only the good in people and invited them into her life.
She was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Cutler to Cyril and Lura (Cunningham)
Lucas. She married James C. Cooper on Aug. 16, 1953, and he survives.
Also surviving are her children, Debbie Cooper (companion David Hamilton),
Gary (wife Sara) Cooper, Sandy Rudd (companion Kenny Faulkner), Danny
Cooper, Cherri (husband Ben) Flora and Joni (husband Walt) South; 16
grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Andy, Derrick, Anna, Shannon, Carly, Joey,
James, Nathan, Dylan, Jordon, Brandie, Scott, Aaron and Seve; three
sisters, Rosemary Ward of Lafayette, Carol Stonebraker of Kokomo and Becky
Rogers of Frankfort; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Brenda Cooper; and
three brothers, Calvin, Ralph and Roger.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Genda Funeral Home with Phil Holdman
officiating. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Calling is 5-8 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital.
