Lonny L. Lawson, 80, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at his home.
He was born August 3, 1934, in Frankfort, to Leroy Lawson and India J. Buhl Lawson Mound. Lonny lived with his grandmother, Ethel Friedline Brooks, through his childhood. On October 8, 1970, he married Elizabeth Calhoun; she survives.
Lonny graduated from Rossville High School in 1952. He served in the United States Marine Corp. as a Corporal and with the Military Police. Lonny worked for Alcoa for 41 years before retiring. He was an avid golfer and member of Angel Hill Golf Course; Lonny loved working outside.
In addition to his wife, Lonny is survived by three children, Bret Lawson of Orange Park, FL, James (Susan) Lawson of New Richmond, and Lonny (Shellie) Lawson of Rossville; five grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Kirsten, Emma, and Evan; brother, Jahn (Helen) Lawson of Connersville, IN, and Clearwater, FL; and sister, Norma Lee Barnett of Largo, FL.
In addition to his parents, Lonny is preceded in death by one daughter, Deneise Lawson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery with military graveside honors. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com
