Losey B. Hackerd, 82, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.
He was born July 29, 1931, in Frankfort, the son of Kermit Rex and Florence Plummer Hackerd. On September 17, 1955, Losey married the former Wilma Lee Creasman; she preceded him in death on May 8, 1983.
Losey served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean War. He worked at Mallory Controls for 35 years. Losey attended First Baptist Church in Frankfort and was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by two sons, Losey L. (Kathy) Hackerd and Christopher Lee (Ann) Hackerd, both of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Christi) Hackerd, Joshua (Shelly) Hackerd, Ryan (Sasha) Hackerd, Brad (Heather) Clendenning, Beverly (Robbie) Hale, and Sabrina (Daniel) LaFleur; and five great-grandchildren, Theodore, Chase, Jaylin, Braiden, and Aniston.
In addition to his parents and wife, Losey is preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Martin and Marjorie Reed.
Visitation for Losey will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort with military graveside honors. Memorials in Loseyâs name may be made to American Diabetes Association.
