Lou OâReilly, 86, of Delphi and lifelong resident of Carroll County, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at her home.
She was born February 9, 1927, in Flora, the daughter of Everett L. âPeteâ and Dot Waltman Tolen.
On August 10, 1977, she married Robert OâReilly; he preceded her in death August 26, 2000.
In 1945, Lou graduated from Flora High School. Before retiring in 1992, she worked as a Senior Accounting Clerk at First Federal Savings and Loan after 25 years of service. Lou was a member of Living Stone Church in Rossville, and former member of both the Church of the Brethren and First Presbyterian Church in Delphi. She is also a member of the Americus Quilting Club, the oldest chapter in the State, and the Birthday Club, Horseshoe Bend Association. Lou is a former member of Tri Kappa and the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as a Junior Director.
Lou loved people and never knew a stranger. She had the gift of hospitality, always making people feel welcomed. Those who knew her greatly loved and appreciated her. She was loved and cherished by her family and friends.
Surviving Lou are one son, Michael J. (Jeannie) OâReilly of Lafayette; four daughters, Wanda Lou (Donald) Berger of Carmel, Jane Ann Coghill of Soldotna, Alaska, Wendy Jean (Pete) Kuns of Delphi, and Janet Susan (William) Mabrey of Kenai, Alaska; one sister-in-law, Gretchen Tolen of Frankfort; one sister, Mary Stephens of Brownsburg;11 grandchildren, Kevin OâReilly, Mary (Kyle) Chiang, Anna Greeley, George Berger, Tricia Peek, April Martin, Brenton Coghill, Mary Smith, Wesley Kuns, Matthew Mabrey, and Raymond Mabrey; and 21 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Lou is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joe Tolen and Tom Tolen; one sister, Betty Benko; and one brother-in-law, Bill Stephens.
Visitation for Lou will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, at Living Stone Church in Rossville from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial service beginning at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Eric Alwine will officiate. Fellowship will follow the memorial service at the church. Inurnment will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May26, 2013, in Paint Creek Cemetery.
