Lucille K. Mehrings, 107, of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
She was born June 29, 1906, in Gibson City, IL, the daughter of Clemens Carl and Maude Doman Hoffman. On June 1, 1935, she married Elmer S. âMikeâ Mehrings; he preceded her in death on February 27, 1970.
Lucille attended Indiana Central Academy College and Normal (Illinois) College. She taught grade school for nine years in Illinois. In 1989, she moved from Roberts, IL, to Wesley Manor. Lucille was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort. In her later years, Lucille would volunteer and read to children. She loved cards and people.
Surviving Lucille are her daughter-in-law, Carol Mehrings of Monticello; grandsons, Jeffrey Mehrings of Monticello and Kevin Mehrings of Bloomington; two great grandsons, Tony and Michael; two great-great grandsons; and several nieces.
In addition to her husband, Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Irena Stella Hoffman, who raised her; and her son, Phil Mehrings, who passed March 20, 2003.
A memorial service in Lucilleâs honor will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel at Wesley Manor in Frankfort with Pastor Jake Fisher and Chaplin Barbara Kinsler officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury, Illinois. Memorials in Lucilleâs name may be to St. Matthew United Methodist Church Building Fund or Wesley Manor Good Samaritan Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.
