M. Wayne Kingery

Maurice Wayne Kingery, 92, of Rossville, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Milner Community Healthcare.

He was born September 26, 1923, in Frankfort, to Lawrence Noah and Faye Sheets Kingery.  On June 10, 1944, he married Maxine Gable; she preceded him in death on March 24, 2010.

Wayne graduated from Michigantown High School and then attended Purdue University.  Wayne served in the United States Army as a SSG during World War II.  After his service, Wayne worked as a finish carpenter for Donald Martin Buildings for over 30 years while farming.  He loved to read the Bible and build things.

Surviving Wayne are one son, Randall Max (Dixie) Kingery, of Monticello; daughter, Cathy Jean (Randy) Hillyer, of Lafayette; brother, Lawrence Doyal Kingery, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Anthony Wayne (Misty)Hillyer, Cassandra Noel (Scott) Murphy, and Jason Lawrence (Misty) Kingery; nine great-grandchildren, Blake Hillyer, Libby Anderson, Makalah Fruits, Mikinzie Fruits, Tyler Kingery, Bret Howard, Zack Lutrell, Isiah Kingery, Brooke Smith, Brandy Smith, Garrett Murphy, and Garner Murphy; great-great-grandsons, Payton Smith, Braydon Anderson, Benton Anderson, and one expected soon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jerry Lynn Kingery; and one grandson, Joseph Allen Kingery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the funeral home with Mick Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery with military graveside honors.  Memorials in Wayne’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Association or Clinton County Cancer.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
