M. Wayne Schimmel
M. Wayne Schimmel, 78, of Frankfort, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at home.
On Sept. 25, 1953, he married Lois J. Marley at Grace Brethern Church in Flora, and she survives.
Born April 21, 1933, in Clinton County, he was the son of Harvey A. and Della (Street) Schimmel.
He attended Kirklin and Jackson schools and graduated from Scircleville High School in 1951.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from April 1954 to March 1956.
Mr. Schimmel farmed for 36 years and retired in 1993.
He was a member of Kelly Crossing Church of God, a past member of the Kirklin Legion and Moose Lodge. After retirement and for over 30 years, Wayne was a caregiver with his wife, Lois, to children and became âGrandpaâ to many.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Douglas Schimmel (wife: Judy) of West Lafayette; two sisters, Freida Spaulding of Frankfort and Martha Creason of Kokomo; and two grandchildren, David and Brian of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Burns.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Bunnell Cemetery, Pastor Daniel Miller officiating.
