Madge Elizabeth Barnett, 97, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1918, in Boone County, to Elias W. and Flo Ella Smith Rogers. On June 30, 1939, she married Ralph C. Barnett Jr.; he preceded her in death on March 7, 1988.
Madge graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1936. She then graduated from Indiana College of Business in Lafayette. Madge was a sales clerk and buyer at M.B. Thrasher Co. for 24 years before her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Manson Congregational Christian Church, Jackson Township Home Ec. Club, Antioch Motherâs Club, Birthday Club, and Sheridan Chapter of the Eastern Star. Madge enjoyed her works and loved to help others; she enjoyed her friendships with some very special ladies, cooking for her family, and working in her flower gardens. She loved and lived to be with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving Madge are her children, Trudy (Harry) Sheets of Frankfort, Donald Barnett of Texas, Gordon (Carol Jo) Barnett and Charles âButchâ (Chris) Barnett, both of Frankfort, and Steve (Linda) Barnett of Delphi; son-in-law, Harold Young of Battle Ground; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Madge is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Doug Barnett, and one daughter, Donna Young.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 9:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastors Mark Sanders and Mary Jo Meek will officiate. Burial will follow in Buntin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Madgeâs name may be made to Clinton County Cancer or Great Lakes Hospice.
