Margaret Lou McEwen, 97, of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
She was born June 30, 1920, in Muncie. Her parents, Ray and Tamar Hopkins Shore, preceded her in death. On March 10, 1940, Margaret married John C. McEwen; he preceded her in death on September 2, 1981.
Margaret graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1938; she was a homemaker and worked for many years with her family at Shore Bowling Lanes. Margaret was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Frankfort where she had sang in their choir. Throughout her life, Margaret loved all of her pet dogs.
Surviving Margaret are her son, Joe (Pam) McEwen, of Noblesville; brother, Maurice âSkipâ (Barb) Shore, of Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Kim Hopkins, Kevin Cummins, Kelly Cummins, Kris Cummins, Brian (Beth) McEwen, Brent (Kristal) McEwen, and Brett (Courtney) McEwen; great-grandchildren, Amber Clouser, Autumn Cummins, Caleb McEwen, Maddy McEwen, Trinity McEwen, Phoenix McEwen; several great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Sue Shore, of Lafayette; and four nieces and their families.
In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Abston.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Phil Lake will officiate.
