Maria Carmen Reveles-Morales, 76, of Flora, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born July 16, 1946, in Dolores Hidalgo GTO, Mexico to Dario Reveles and Maria Solidad Garcia. On July 10, 1964, she married Meliano Morales-Sandoval at the church, Virgen de Dolores. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2022. They moved to Flora in 1971 with 3 children and had one more child. Carmen worked in many agricultural fields for several years until approximately 1975 when she became a homemaker and caregiver.
Carmen’s work at home consisted of raising 4 children with one child she did not leave until death. Her third child, Elizabeth Morales, born with Cerebral Palsy and lovingly referred to by her as ‘Queen’, was her full-time commitment of love for 52 years. Carmen raised her two oldest children, Leon and Maria, to be an extension of her hands, feet and eyes; helping to raise and care for her youngest son and their brother, Gerardo. Leon, who is six years older than Gerardo, took care of him with the same love his mother raised him with. Maria, who was four years older than the baby of the family, took him everywhere and raised him as her friend. This extension of who Carmen was taught her children that family comes first and is foremost. To give their family a better life, Carmen and her husband, Meliano, raised their family alone and away from relatives. Carmen and Meliano were the only family their children had growing up and Carmen ensured that her family never took that for granted through the years.
Carmen was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, where she had her children complete their first Communions to Confirmation.
She enjoyed cooking and creating recipes, but her true passion was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them making memories.
Carmen is survived by her children, Leon (Lori) Morales, Maria (Carlos) Ramirez, Elizabeth Morales, and Jose (Amy) Morales; grandchildren, Carmen Richter, Matthew Richter, Anthony Morales, Claire Overmyer, Derek Overmyer, Ivette (Richardo) Castillo, Carlos Ramirez; great grandchildren, Emmy Castillo, Santiago Castillo, Evan Castillo, and Ximena Ramirez; and several siblings.
Along with her husband of 58 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Jose Gerardo Morales Jr. and Meliano Leon Morales and a great grandchild, Mateo Richter, Jr.; and several siblings.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, her husband’s birthday, from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm, at Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be made at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
