Marian V. Lungren, 95, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
She was born October 21, 1917, in Bellevue, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph M. and Viola Tibboles Smith. On February 24, 1943, she married Harry Burton âBurtâ Mason Jr. at Seybert Evangelical Church in Bellevue, Ohio; he preceded her January 7, 1980. On June 26, 1982, she married J. Keith Lungren at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort; he preceded her in death January 12, 1983.
Marian graduated from Bellevue High School. Throughout her life, Marian lived in Fostoria, Ohio, Fort Wayne, IN, Muncie, IN, Indianapolis, IN, Delphos, Ohio, St. Louis, MO, and settled in Frankfort since 1982. She worked for Northern Ohio Telephone Company in Bellevue, Ohio, and later Indiana Bell in Fort Wayne. She studied piano and organ; Marian served as church organist at each church throughout her life. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort, United Church Women, Finde Circle, Friends of Wesley Manor, Friends of the Library, and the Hand Bell Choir. She loved walking her dog, Jackie, at TPA Park, music, needlepoint, and sewing.
Surviving Marian are one daughter, Diane (husband, Roger) Carter of Logansport; extended family, Kevin and Libbi Smith; step-children, Karen Smith, Jan Tice, J. Keith Lungren Jr., Becky Sharp, and Kevin Lungren; grandchildren, Christopher Walsh, Chris, Dallas, Gracie, Owen, and Emma Smith; one great grandchild, several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
In addition, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Smith; son-in-law, Tom Walsh; and grandson, Brent Walsh.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service. Funeral service for Marian will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jake Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Marianâs name may be made to Clinton County Humane Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.
