Marileen J. Kanatzer

Marileen J. Kanatzer, 85, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

She was born March 20, 1929, in Tippecanoe County, to Russell Sr. and Nellie Meek Vinard.  On February 8, 1947, she married Richard Lavon Kanatzer; he preceded her in death September 27, 1979.

Marileen attended Scrogee Schools.  After 33 years, she retired from Indiana Brass.  Marileen enjoyed spending time with friends, bowling, and playing cards.  She shared her love with her family by way of the kitchen.  

Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Joyce) Kanatzer and Jackie (Kathy) Kanatzer, both of Frankfort; two daughters, Barbara Dubree and Christina Robinson, both of Frankfort; one sister, Barbara Jean Vinard of Frankfort; nine grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Marileen was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one grandson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 3:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 5:00 p.m.  Pastor Ella Nichols will officiate.  A private burial will be held at Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.  Memorials in Marileen’s name may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
