Marjorie June Brettnacher

Marjorie June Brettnacher, 93, of Mulberry, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

She was born at home in Buck Creek, on June 22, 1920, to the late Peter Paul and Estelle “Stella” Clawson Templin.  On August 28, 1937, she married Anthony Paul Brettnacher Sr. at St. Boniface Church in Lafayette; he preceded her in death July 14, 1988.

June graduated from Buck Creek High School in Tippecanoe County.  Throughout her life she worked at Warren Paper, Neuwelt’s Fabric Center, and Mulberry Lutheran Home; most recently, June was a homemaker for many years.  June was a member of St. Boniface Church in Lafayette for 75 years.  She was a member of the Edna Mills Club of Clinton County Homemakers Clubs, Mulberry Garden Club, and many card clubs in Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties including the “Romney Card Club.”  June was well known for her ability to raise beautiful violets, to create hand stitched quilts, to sew, and to bake and cook; in recognition of these talents, she received many champion ribbons at the Tippecanoe and Clinton Counties open class fair exhibits.  She was the “great” farmer’s wife who always made sure her family and any friends or hired help were served their meals even if she had to take them to the fields.

June is survived by three sons, Ralph Eugene (Dorothy) Brettnacher of Lafayette, James Kenneth (Melanie) Brettnacher of Mulberry, and Richard Wayne (Rebecca) Brettnacher of Bloomington, IL; daughter-in-law, Ruth Brettnacher; six grandsons, eight granddaughters, 11 great grandsons, seven great granddaughters, four great-great grandsons, two great-great granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, June is preceded in death by two sons, Peter J. Brettnacher and Anthony Paul Brettnacher Jr.; one granddaughter-in-law, Martine Brettnacher; one great grandson, Jacob Walker; two brothers, James W. Templin and Lloyd P. Templin; and two sisters, Deloris Ann Templin Minniear and infant, Katherine Elizabeth Templin.
