Marta A. Barnes, 68, a life-long Clinton County resident, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born January 17, 1948, in Clinton County, to Robert E. Thompson and Martha E. Parsons Hite. On June 13, 1970, she married Donald Barnes in Frankfort; he survives.
Marta graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1966, and later from Advance Beauty Culture in Indianapolis. She was a hairdresser for many years before her retirement in 2004. Marta was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa, Pink Ladies, Clinton County Civic Theatre, Humane Society of Clinton County Board, and several hairdresser organizations.
In addition to her husband, Marta is survived by her children, Heather (Joe) Deloach, of Lafayette, and Trevor Barnes (Krista Hughes), of Indianapolis; and brother, Thomas (Nadine) Thompson, of California. Marta was Nanny to her grandchildren, Tyler Locker, Jasmine Barnes, Aiden Barnes, and Brooklynn Barnes, who also survive.
Marta is preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Richard Hite.
Family and friends are invited to a casual viewing from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Bring your favorite happy and funny memories of Marta to share. A celebration of life service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
