Martha Dobson

Martha L. Dobson, 85, of Forest, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at her home.    

She was born September 7, 1928, in Kattie, KY, the daughter of Robert L. and Arie Elizabeth Crick Chester.  Martha was previously married to Doyle Cox who preceded her in death.  She then married Dobie Dobson.  He preceded her in death on December 28, 1986.  On November 16, 2013, Martha married Carl D. Meadows; he survives.  

Martha attended Michigantown High School.  She retired from P.R. Mallory after 35 years of service.  She was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles.  She was also a member of bowling leagues.  Martha enjoyed dancing and singing.  

In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by two children, James (June) Cox of Colfax and Sharon Bowen of MO; eight step-children, Donnie Cox, Larry Cox, Tobby Cox, Mike Dobson, Terry Dobson, Cheryl (Paul) Ayres, Billie (George) Burkhalter, and John Meadows; two brothers, Gobel Chester of Forest and Beckum (Betty) Chester of MO; two sisters, Frances (Harry) Surber and Elizabeth Thieke, both of Forest; and seven grandchildren, Angie, Shannon, Billy, Valire, Shelia, Peggy and Mike.  

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and 13 siblings.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 11, 2014 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Bob Bogue will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.   Memorials may be made to the family in Martha’s name to help with final expenses.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
