On January 30, 1942 Byron Allen Jervis and Evelyn May (Starbuck) Jervis had their first of four children, Marvin Allen Jervis, at Mamie Kennedy's Nursing Home in Flora, Indiana.Marvin graduated from Flora High School in 1960. Marvin married Constance Louise Washington on September 1, 1961 at the Ball Hill Methodist Church. They had three children: Devona, Randy, and Clint. Marvin worked for IBM and farmed for many years, then worked as an Ironworker and continued to raise hogs for many more years until his retirement. Marvin served as a volunteer on the Rossville Ambulance Service for several years. Marvin and Connie resided in the Cutler area for 50 years until she went to be with the Lord in November of 2011. After which, Marvin moved to Rossville, Indiana. Marvin married Deborah Sue Eberle Elmendorf June 8, 2014. Marvin enjoyed being a snowbird so much that they moved to Winter Haven, Florida in June of 2015.Throughout his life, Marvin enjoyed family, friends, and playing cards. He was a member of the Radnor Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge. He was friendly, kind, and generous, a jokester at heart⦠he loved to laugh, tease, and pull pranks. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart and would always make time for them no matter how busy he was. He never met a stranger. Marvin went to meet his maker on April 26, 2016. Preceding him in death: his parents- Byron and Evelyn Jervis, his wife- Connie Jervis, his great-grandson - Sabastian Wayne Kamp. Surviving: Wife: Deborah (Eberle) Jervis of Winter Haven, FloridaChildren: Clint Jervis of Florida, Randy Jervis and Peggy Baker of Frankfort, Devona (Jervis) Gangwer of Lafayette; Step-children: Patrick Elmendorf -wife Rebecca of El Segundo, California , Paul Elmendorf of El Segundo, California, Peter Elmendorf of Portland, Oregon.Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Lloyd Gangwer (of Lafayette- children: Logan and Morgan); Monica (Gangwer) Kamp (of Lafayette- children: Sabastian, Connor, and Gracie); Ricardo and Ashley (Gangwer) Gamboa of Columbus, Indiana.Siblings: Clarence Jervis- wife Sandy, of Winter Haven Florida, Carroll Jervis- wife Beverly, of Cutler, Indiana, and Teresa Maxwell- husband Phil, of Delphi, Indiana.The family would like to celebrate the life of Marvin at the Radnor United Methodist Church on May 24, 2016 with visitation for family and friends from 2:00 -4:00 pm followed by Masonic rites and a memorial service at 4:00 pm given by Pastor Ed Selvidge.
