Marvin James Gibson, 86, of Flora, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville.
He was born October 4, 1927, in Flora, the son of Marion E. and Mable E. Larimer Gibson. He married the former Leona Harris; she preceded him in death.
Marvin was in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines. He worked for Helvies House Moving. Marvin spent his time with woodworking, crafts, painting and gardening. He was a coin collector and enjoyed Thomas Kincaid puzzles. Marvin also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving Marvin is one son from his first marriage, Jimmy Benner of Indianapolis; five children from his marriage with Leona, Marion James Gibson of Flora, Marna Wyant of Flora, Auzilene Barnes of Logansport, Wanda (Harry) Trublood of Logansport, and Jimmy Owsley of Alabama; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Gibson and Tom Gibson.
Visitation for Marvin will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora from 12 p.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor Scott Gamel will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Memorials in Marvinâs name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Crohnâs and Colitis Foundation of America.
