Mary Ann Anderson, 88, of Mulberry, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
She was born December 26, 1928, at Clinton County Hospital, the middle of three daughters to Charles E. and Dorothy L. Bailey Timmons. On December 21, 1946, she married James Calvin Anderson in the Antioch Parsonage; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2013.
Due to her fatherâs occupation and the Depression, Mary Ann and her family moved around in her early years; she graduated from Colfax High School in 1945 before spending time working as a secretary in Washington D.C., whetting her interest in patriotism. This prompted several vacations with Calvin to historical sites. She later worked for 15 years at Meridian Insurance Group and 10 years at Purdue University. In 1994, the Andersons sold the family farm before moving to Mulberry. For many years, Mary Ann was a stay-at-home mom. Mary Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who tried to lead by example and embodied the Bible verse, âI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.â She was a former member of Colfax and Clarks Hill Christian Churches as well as Fickle Cloverleaf Methodist until its closing. She was a charter member of Fickle Friendship Club.
Surviving Mary Ann are her sons, Steve (Vicki) Anderson, of rural Mulberry, John (Susan) Anderson, of Boca Raton, FL, and Bruce (Norma) Anderson, of Fishers; one grandson, four granddaughters, four great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, four step-grandchildren, sister, Frances Anderson, of St. Louis; and special sister-in-law, Connie Croteau, of Merit Island, FL.
In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 1:30 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Daniel Towle will officiate. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorials in Mary Annâs name may be made to the Indiana Veteransâ Home. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
