Mary Belle Harness, 70, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her home.

She was born May 16, 1943, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Martin and Anna Tindall Roth; her mother survives.  On February 14, 1970, she married Thomas Kasten; he preceded her in death on July 5, 1972.  She later married Frank Harness in 1976; he preceded her in death December 1, 1993.

Mary attended Frankfort Schools.  She worked as a food server for Lynch’s Restaurant, Park View Home and Clinton House throughout her life.  Mary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed sewing and making dolls and doll clothing.

In addition to her mother, Mary is survived by her children, Robert Thomas of New York, Theodore A. Kasten of Frankfort, Shaun Harness (Rebecca) of Frankfort, Betty Sue Feagle of Frankfort, Regina (Gordon) Hicks of Kentucky, Theresa (John II) Gabrial of Frankfort, and Rosanna (Sam) Bell of Frankfort; sister, Shirley (Ed) Rose of Kentucky; brother, Marty (Patty) Roth of Lebanon; 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Mary is preceded in death by her father, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 4:00 p.m. until the beginning of the memorial service.  A memorial service for Mary will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Crawford officiating.  Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or Park View Home.  On-line condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
