Mary G. Kemmer Irmeger, 85, of Rossville, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Mulberry Health. Mary was born on February 23, 1932 in Owasco, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Gladys Opal McNorton Kemmer. She attended Rossville High School. On March 12, 1950, she married Robert Dean Irmeger, who preceded her death in 2016. Together, they owned and operated Irmegerâs Standard Service in Rossville for 25 years and spent several years delivering travel trailers across the U.S. They wintered in Florida.
Mary was an avid reader and loved traveling the U.S. in their motorhome, taking cross country motorcycle trips and snowmobile trips to Michigan, Wyoming, and Canada. She particularly enjoyed traveling with her daughter to various cities across the U.S. Her travels took her to every state in the Union, including a two month trek to Alaska. She will be remembered for her love of her flowers, warm smile and her strawberry-rhubarb pies. Mary particularly enjoyed watching her grandson Derek and his wife, Tammie, coach her great-grandchildrenâs soccer teams. She never missed a game but would, however, watch from the car during horizontal rain.
Mary Dear, as she was known to her family, loved her children and adored her grandson, Derek and his family. She leaves behind her daughter, Lou Ann Irmeger Baugh, of Lafayette; grandson, Derek Dean Irmeger (Tammie); great-granddaughter, Taylor R.; great-grandson, Bryan D., all of West Elwood; and a sister, Marjorie Clark, of Lafayette.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob who passed March 12, 2016; a son, Gary D. Irmeger; three sisters, Kathryn Kemmer, Alice Becker, and Helen Miller; and five brothers, Robert, Donald, Max, Richard, and William.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Unit 100 at Mulberry Health for the compassionate and loving care of Mary during the final years of her life.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Guy Studebaker will officiate.
