Mary Lou Kays

Mary Lou Kays, 80, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully at her residence, Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born in Clinton County on May 30, 1944, to Cleo Albert Alter and Dorothy Francis (Dawson) Merrill. 

Mary Lou was a 1962 graduate of Clinton Central High School where she was a Majorette. She worked for Frankfort City, Light, & Power for 22 years before her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, flower gardening, working crossword puzzles, playing slot machines, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. 

Mary Lou is survived by her children Rhonda (Ron) Rudd, Angela Alting; grandchildren, Christopher, Ariel (Rex), Olivia (Jack), Brandy (Monica), and Isaac (Christine); great grandchildren, Rowan, Rylan, Bailey, Brigham, Amelia, and Veda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Wayne Edwin King; former husband, Clifford Kays; and a great grandchild, Navy.

Private services were held in her honor, and she was laid to rest at Bunnell Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Clinton County Cancer. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
